Homebuyer Education Session Schedule

The following is a tentative schedule:

Monday evenings @ 6:00 PM and Wednesdays @ 10:00 AM. Please call office @ 301-722-6958 to confirm seating.

The CNHS Homebuyer Education Program provides comprehensive home purchase counseling in a group setting consisting of 5 two-hour sessions totaling 10 hours to receive homebuyer education certificates. The CNHS Homebuyer Education Program is certified for the State of Maryland and the US Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

All applicants requiring homebuyer education should contact the CNHS office immediately to register for sessions due to limited seating. Sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled if persons have not registered (by adding their names to the class sign-up sheet). Please call to confirm your attendance.

To accommodate participants in the program, sessions may be attended out-of-sequence. Session 2 may be attended prior to Session 1, etc.

Most lenders, including CNHS, require homebuyers to receive homebuyer education certificates prior to the loan closing. Application for financing may be made at any time. However, the ideal time to attend homebuyer education sessions is prior to looking for a home.

All applicants attending Homebuyer Education Classes as a requirement to participate in the CNHS Closing Costs Grant for New Homeowners must contact their lender and let them know that you are receiving a $1,000 grant from CNHS for closing costs, if you meet the income guidelines.

Grant Applications can be obtained at this office, and must be completed in full and returned to this office with all necessary documents requested as soon as possible. The NHS Grant must be listed as a credit to the borrower on the HUD-1 Settlement Statement at closing. Please remit a copy of the HUD -1 Settlement Statement to CNHS within one week after purchasiing your home.

If you have special needs in regard to climbing stairs, hearing or vision, please call the CNHS office twenty four hours in advance of the sessions to confirm accessibility and support for CNHS services.
